Over the years, Disney has produced some of the most memorable movies. They have taught us about finding the truth inside of our hearts, and given us the strength to make it through the hard times. With characters cut from real life, we'll take a moment to look at the top 10 Disney movies.

# 10 Robin Hood

Disney sported a fox for the title character and brought the timeless classic to the big screen. It gave young viewers the chance to see that sometimes doing the right thing might seem like it is wrong to others, and gave us brave heroics.

# 9 Cinderella

Everyone has a dream that is set to come true, and that is what this tale is about. Even in the darkest moments of our lives, there is the chance to find our fairytale ending. More importantly, we learn about friendship and trusting those in our lives.

# 8 Aladdin

This movie took us on a magic carpet ride that taught us about friendship and faith, while giving us a good chuckle thanks to Robin Williams. With some of the best hand drawn animation that Disney every put out, this is one of the most memorable movies of all time.

# 7 Bambi

Heartbreaking and real, the film was about growing up and finding out that even in our darkest hours we can find the truth. This is one of the few times that a movie has touched many people in dramatic ways, and was brilliantly done with strong vocal actors.

Taking away from the traditional Disney princess heroes, Mulan showed a new and exciting side to the Disney Legacy. This classic tale delivered a number of emotional blows while holding a solid story and delivering a beautiful soundtrack that many will always remember.

Growing up different can be hard for some people. But for Ariel, it just seemed part of her life. With an award winning soundtrack and a mesmerizing storyline, this animated tale quickly became one of the best films from Disney. This was the one time that Disney truly shined with the different is beautiful concept.

This classic was the groundbreaking film for Disney. Brilliantly written and drawn, children today still love the tale of Snow White and the 7 new friends she made in the middle of the woods. In fact, the Wicked Queen is among the best villains of all time as well. This is truly a timeless classic.

# 3 Lady and the Tramp

A beautiful tale about love that isn't quite a fairy tale and it is done brilliantly. Here, we have two lovers who are from different walks of life. The Lady falls in love with the homeless Tramp and they both find a change inside of their hearts. Well voiced and it has a tale that will still bring most people to tears. This is a phenomenal classic that shouldn't be missed.

From Elton John's award winning soundtrack to detailed scenery this coming of age story has captured the hearts of millions. In this tale we learn about the inner truth and strength in ourselves and have the ability to push forward, even in the darkest of times. It was also the first Disney movie to get a sequel, and rightfully so. This is among the best that Disney has ever offered the viewing public.

The ultimate love story was one that had people stop dead in their tracks. Not only did this movie offer brilliant vocal talents and an award winning song that broke the hearts of millions, but it also gave us the hope that in all of us there is something special, and no matter what our shell looks like, there will be someone out there that will see the inner beauty in us, and fall in love with that person. Because as Gaston proved, beauty is only skin deep.

Each of these movies will hold a place in our hearts for years to come. These are timeless classics that even today seem modern and relevant in our culture and society as well.

The Top Animated Movies Of All Times

The list of the "top animated movies of all time" falls into an entirely different category to all other movies. In the past animated movies were created by artists who drew endless pictures of moving figures. Today, animation is based on the advanced technology of the age. The modern animator sits and manipulates the images on the computer.

In the past, animated movies were for only for kids. Coloured movies like Snow White or Cinderella. Now a days you can find grown ups sitting in cinemas with no children in sight watching movies like Shrek and Nemo.

In our family, we make sure we go see all the animated movies so we can joke and laugh, and recite them at dinnertime together. Animation is no longer only for the young ones.

When you go through the top 10 animated movies, you can see they are all new (the oldest one being from 1992)

o The top most animated movie was "Shrek 2" which was a Disney production and came out in theatres in 2004. "Shrek 2" made a total worldwide gross income of $920,665,658. Shrek 2 came out only three years after Shrek first appeared and become one of the most profitable animated movies. (the movie, Shrek is the 9th profitable movie of all times)

o The second best animated movie was "Finding Nemo". DreamWorks Production made this movie and it totaled a worldwide gross income of $864,625,978

o The third animated movie was the oldest movie in the top 10 animation movies of all times. The movie "The Lion King" came out in 1994 and had a total worldwide gross income of $783,841,776

o The 4th animated movie was the Disney movie "The Incredibles" (2004) with a total worldwide gross income of $631,436,092

o The 5th animated movie was "Monster's Inc" (2001) with total worldwide gross income of $529,061,238

o The 6th animated movie was another DreamWorks movie, "Madagascar" (2005) with a total worldwide gross income of $527,890,631

o The seventh animated movie was "Aladdin" in 1992. It was a DreamWorks movie. This movie totaled a worldwide gross income was $504,050,219

o The eighth animated movie was Disney's production "Toy Story 2" from 1999 and had a total worldwide gross income of $485,015,179.

o The ninth animated movie was none other than "Shrek" (2001) with a total worldwide gross income of $484,409,218, almost half of "Shrek 2".

o The 10th animated movie was "Tarzan" (1999). Which was a Disney movie, with a total worldwide gross income of $449,391,819

It is easy to see from the list that DreamWorks and Disney are leading the animation industry and that their move to advanced animation technology has contributed greatly to their success.

While many people think that sequels are just leveraging the first movie and have nothing extra to give the audience, we can learn from the list of the top animated movies that sequels have a great advantage and have a potential to break profit records. Shrek 2 and Toy Story are great indicators of that.

Because animation is based on technology, and many of the animated movies are computer generated, it is funny to write, "Top animated movies". The progress of technology is speeding so fast that by the time I finish writing this article, a new animated movie, made with new technology, will jump into the top 10 list of the most profitable movies of all time.

The Top 5 Movies of 2008

These are the films that made us laugh, the films that made us cry, and the films that brought us out of our seats. Some were blockbusters, while others slipped across the silver screen without much critical acclaim. Of course, many people will find this list to be completely off, as is only natural. For our legal team's benefit, these picks are highly subjective and should by no means be taken as definitive. That said, make absolutely sure to check out each one on satellite TV at your earliest convenience.

Slumdog Millionaire: Set in the slums of Mumbai, India, Slumdog Millionaire is a powerful story of the vast capabilities of the human spirit. Though the plot revolves around a young Indian boy, one could almost make the argument that the story is uniquely American in that it is a classic "pulled up by the bootstraps" tale. We won't give away any more of the story, but suffice it to say that this will be one of the most drama packed two hours you'll encounter in a movie theater this year. Slum Dog's recent Oscar nomination is certainly well deserved.

The Dark Knight: Heath Ledger's last hurrah is a wild three hour ride through the streets of Gotham. Though it lacks the tightness of Christian Bale's first casting as Batman, the Dark Knight is certainly still worth your time. Most critics agree that Ledger's portrayal of the Joker is equal to (if not better than) Jack Nicholson's performance from the 1980s. That's no small feat. Indeed, the makeup that the Joker sports in the Dark Knight is more than enough to keep kiddies up at night. When you add his creepy demeanor, you'll understand why he's a sure lock for this year's Best Actor award.

Son of Rambow: This movie probably doesn't really have a place on this list, but it would be a disservice to leave Sly's latest flick off of it. That's not mentioning that he's a pretty scary guy, and you never know who's reading what on the Internet. Though a worthy addition to the Rambow pantheon, Son of Rambow doesn't have quite the same appeal as its 1970s and 1980s brethren. Still, the action scenes are phenomenal, and you'll want to catch them on high definition television to really do them justice.

Religilous: Either you love Bill Maher, or you hate him. If it's the latter in your case, we highly suggest skipping this flick. For fans of the comic, however, it's a must see. His exploration of the more laughable points of the world's religions are entertaining, if nothing else.

Rachel Getting Married: We'll end the list with an Indie movie, and quite a powerful one at that. Rachel Getting Married is the story of the strength of sisterhood. A marriage in the family brings Kyrn leaves rehab to come back home for her sister's wedding, everything starts to come undone. Well acted, well directed, and well written, Rachel Getting Married is one that you won't want to miss.

Best Kids Movies in 2009 by Popular Demand

When taking a look at what might be the Best Kids Movies in 2009, a number of different ideas can enter in such as strictly the "best" new release movies, the best movie sales in theatres, best by critical acclaim, etc., etc.

I decided to boil this subject down to a simple list of movies that were most popular by sales in the formats of DVD and Blu-Ray - they do in fact include some new releases for the year of 2009, but there are some re-makes of classics this year that come toward the top of the list.

And what a list! Here it is:

1. Disney Pixar Up - Yes, Disney and Pixar have done it again. This is one of the most entertaining Pixar movies yet! The story is about an elderly balloon salesman that decides to fulfill his dream (in a way many people would consider a bit unusual) - and there are some others along for the ride. This is a nice movie for kids of any age and is very amusing!

2. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - The sixth year at Hogwarts brings the most adventure yet - Harry discovers his exact role in the final defeat of Voldemort. Another great Harry Potter movie, and a "must see" for any Harry Potter fan.

3. Coraline - This movie has the same director as The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach. It might be considered the "darkest" of them all! It is about a young girl named Coraline who desires major changes in her family relationships - but perhaps discovers that her life might not be so bad after all... (As a note, I don't personally recommend this movie for very young kids due to it's "spooky" and more than a bit bizarre nature.)

4. High School Musical 3: Senior Year - In this High School Musical version, Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Chad, Ryan and Taylor are in their final year of high school and they decide together to make it the most unforgettable year yet. A fun movie, especially for young ones who love these characters and/or movies.

5. Pinocchio 70th Anniversary - Here is the first of the "classics" on the list of the Best Kids Movies 2009, and it's a delightful movie for any age. The re-make of this movie is rather spectacular, and the message of courage, honesty and integrity is always a good one.

6. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - Yes, here is another movie on the hottest sellers for kids this year! It's impressive how the movie appears and sounds in digital format - especially Blu-Ray. This is a favorite for very young kids and little ladies too.

7. Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs - The plot thickens for the unlikely prehistoric crew when Mannie and Ellie are expecting a little Mammoth in their family. It creates some interesting changes in the crew and some rather amusing events take place. Fun movie!

8. The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary - This is the third and final of the classic movies on this list and is an amazing re-make of the original. In my opinion this is another movie that is not the best for very young children - that wicked old witch can be just a tad bit too scary, but is a fun movie for families and kids about 6 or 7 and older.

9. Monsters vs. Aliens - This is one of the cutest newer movies on this list! The theme has an interesting twist - what if monsters were actually the good guys? A fun choice and a nice job by Reese Witherspoon who plays the main character, Susan Murphy.

10. Bolt - Personally I think this is one of the cutest movies I have seen for kids. It is about a dog who stars as a superhero in film and begins to take the role a bit too seriously. The plot thickens when he loses his owner and has to go out on his own to find her. John Travolta plays the role of Bolt and does a fabulous job!

Some may disagree with one or more of the movies above in terms of what they consider to be the "Best Kids Movies 2009", but strictly in terms of popular demand the above selections appear to comprise the definitive list. Speaking on a personal level I believe that these are some of the best movies for kids ever!

Top Ten Best Action Movies

Here are the ten best action movies that got our adrenaline pumping and the dynamite exploding. We love action movies and have seen hundreds in our time.

10. Robocop: A cop is transformed after he is brutally murdered execution style by a notorious gang leader. He becomes a super crime fighter, a Robo Cop who is mostly machine with some remnants of his human memory/life. This film had lots of innovative fight scenes with robots, when that was the huge craze and robots were just becoming known in the late 80's. Interestingly, Darren Aronofsky has been hired to film the remake, and Aronofsky is a brilliant director (The Fountain, The Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream).

9. Commando: One of Arnold's earlier films in the 80's, the title speaks for itself. Schwarzenegger is on a mission to get back his kidnapped daughter, and not even an army will stand in his way. "You know when I said I'd kill you last... I lied." This is Arnold doing what he does best, shooting machine guns and blowing stuff up. A movie where you don't have to think.

8. Mission Impossible: Another great film with suspense and excitement. The Mission Impossible team is stealthy and sneaky. Suspended above lasers detection and holding on for dear life as an elevator rockets towards the ceiling. This message will self destruct in five seconds.

7. Rocky: You gotta love this one, "Yo Adrian!". Rocky Balboa is the prototypical Philly Boxer, he don't know much, but he can fight. This series was full of excitement except for Rocky V, that one sucked. But with Rocky heads up against fighters like Apollo, Clubber, and Drago, there is tons of boxing action!

6. The Transporter: Fast cars, fast fighting, and hot women. What could be better? Not much, "The Transporter" has it all and like to show off. The car chase scenes and fight choreography are to be admired. The plot is intriguing too, the women, are the package to be delivered.

5. Rambo: An ex special forces guy who can take out an entire police department with a rock and some sharp sticks. The Rambo series show us that with enough will power and makeshift technology, one man can be "an army of one". One thing you don't want to do is get on Rambo's bad side. And yes they've made too many in the series, Stallone obviously never says die.

4. Aliens: The first and second and resurrection films in this series were well done. The Aliens depicted in these films are not to be messed with. They are scary looking and will haunt your dreams. Only flamethrowers and a helluva lot of ammunition will take them down. And even then after you shoo them, there could be acid splash back at you. Only Ripley seems to know how to take them down, and maybe that's because she is carrying one of them inside her, and they don't want to kill their own. These Aliens are like worker ants only much bigger and much deadlier. The hierarchy is the same though.

3. Predator: How do you kill what you can't see? Arnold thinks "if it bleeds we can kill it". Easier said than done as the Predator lives for the hunt and wants humans for trophies. His technology is vastly superior to the measly humans, but lucky for them he will fight on their level for "honor". This is the only weakness that allow Arnold to have a sporting chance.

2. Terminator: First Schwarzenegger plays a cyborg from the future that comes to kill Sarah Connor, then in T2 he plays one that comes to save Jon Connor to fight for the resistance against Sky Net. I don't know why but I always think that this apocalyptic scenario is always possible with our technology available. We all await to see whether Terminator: Salvation will be a blockbuster or a failure.

1. Die Hard: "yippy ka yay" This film has action ingrained in its cellophane. Most definitely the best action film of all time. An NYPD cop is trapped in Nakatomi plaza with a bunch of terrorist who hold his wife's co workers hostage at during an office party. John McClane slips away when they seize control, and manages to undermine and kill off the terrorist one by one. John McTiernan directed this film along with the Predator film, and does an impeccable job.

The Top Movies on Movie Lists

For the past 10 years or so it has been discussed and argued about which movies are truly the best movies. Below, I will go through some of the most popular movie list sources and dissect the validity.

The AFI Top Movies of all time: Since 1998 and as recent as this year, many great movies have been posted to this list. It always begins with Citizen Kane as the top movie of all time and then ending with which ever movie deserved to be on the movie list the last time. Some have been kicked off since 1998 and some new ones have been added. One of the oddest additions has to be "The Sixth Sense." While recognized as a shocker and one that has possibly changed how endings are made, it is now mostly known as a good overall movie, but has not aged well. The AFI Top Movie List is compiled by critics, writers, journalists, creators, producers, etc. The validity of the list is definitely not mainstream as 70% of the American Population has not heard of half of the movies that appear on the list. None the less, most of the movies on the list are incredible movies if watched with an open mind. They are more than just movies.

Roger Ebert's great movie list.: How can one man say he knows what movies are the greatest of all time - and why would people believe him? Simple, he is a creative writer, fairly mainstream in nature, and rarely negative. He likes all kinds of movies. He does not rank each of his movies, but does some times say roughly where he would put his movies on a list. He believes strongly in what he thinks. He rarely changes his mind. His problem is that he has way too many films on his list. He also includes his favorites that don't really apply to most people's tastes. It's ok, because it is his list and not a computation.

Time Magazine: This may be the least familiar list. There are 1000 movies on it and all are noteworthy. But, there are a lot of sleepers. "The Fly" is one that comes to mind. It is a solid sci-fi, but does not fall on any major list (or many minor lists). Most of the movies many people have not heard of. It is a good list to go by for advanced movie watchers (once they have watched the entire AFI).

The final list that will be reviewed is IMDB (internet movie database). It is one of the few internet only movie lists. It is compiled by 100s of 1000s of votes. This is a list compiled by normal users, critics, and anyone who has internet access. IMDB is a great list to go by for novices and experts. Its top movies do change regularly, which is a good thing as it gives new movies a chance to make the list.

None of the lists are perfect, and none of them are bad. A good rule of thumb is to use all lists - watch all movies on the lists, and then tell others about it. Enjoy the greatest movies of all time!

Top 5 Fighter Plane Movies

There are two things we're all looking for in a good fighter plane movie: fighter planes, and non-stop action. Some films that claim to be fighter plane movies contain plenty of the latter but surprisingly few of the former. I'm not naming any names here, but *cough* Firefox *cough*. If you've only got two hours of spare time, you've got one shot at choosing the right movie. The following five films are the best of the best of the genre. They should be the first films you reach for on the DVD rack.

#5. Into the Sun

A fighter pilot on active duty overseas has to put up with an annoying movie star following him everywhere - even into combat - as research for his new film role.

Few people have ever heard of (or can find a copy of) Into the Sun, which is a shame, because it's one of the cleverest, funniest films in the genre. It's not a spoof, like Hot Shots, but it manages to poke fun at the stereotypes while still hitting all the story points we need in a fighter plane film.

#4. Flyboys

A World War I fighter pilot stationed with the famous Lafayette squadron in France struggles to fend off the Germans and protect the French woman he's falling in love with.

Released: 2006 by 20th Century Fox

Starring: James Franco, Jean Reno

Featured Planes: Nieuport 17s

This is a must-see for anyone who thinks biplanes are boring. The greater danger these pilots faced because of the fragility of their equipment makes the dogfight sequences in Flyboys some of the most tense and harrowing in the genre.

#3. Battle of Britain

In the summer of 1940, a small group of British pilots fight desperately to keep the Nazi Luftwaffe from bombing their country into submission and opening the way for a land invasion.

Released: 1969 by MGM/United Artists

Starring: Michael Caine, Lawrence Olivier

Featured Planes: Spitfires, Hurricanes, Heinkel 111s, ME-109s, etc.

There is only one word for the aerial sequences in Battle of Britain: amazing. With so many planes in the air, it looks like a nest of angry hornets, and the best part is that they're all real. There was no CGI in 1969. The story is a bit confusing for people who don't know their history, but the massive dogfights more than make up for it.

#2. Top Gun

A cocky young fighter pilot gets his chance to go up against the best pilots in the Navy when he's chosen for the fighter weapons school nicknamed "Top Gun."

Released: 1986 by Paramount Pictures

Starring: Tom Cruise, Val Kilmet

Featured Planes: F-14 Tomcats, A-4 Skyhawks, Mig-28s (actually F-5 Tiger IIs)

Top Gun is the seminal film of the genre. It spawned numerous popular quotes ("I have a need, a need for speed!") and ignited a resurgence of interest in the fighter plane genre. It's very 80s, especially in the soundtrack, but hardly a minute goes by where we're not treated to heartstopping aerial action. Always a solid pick.

A fighter pilot is forced to go head to head with his own wingman: a futuristic, artificially intelligent fighter plane that has gone rogue.

Starring: Josh Lucas, Jessica Biel

There's a sizeable element of science fiction in Stealth, which only serves to make it all the more awesome. All the impossible feats you ever daydreamed of pulling in a fighter are here and the sprawling story even manages to be unpredictable. Stealth is underrated, and comes highly recommended... by me.
